Ocrilate (Octyl cyanoacrylate, chemical formula: C12H19NO2) is a chemical compound of cyanide. It is the main component of medical cyanoacrylate glues used as adhesives for lacerations. It is ideal for the swift and efficient closure of cuts, and other minor wounds.
Ocrilate, also known as 2-octyl cyanoacrylate（NOCA）, is often used as a raw material for surgical skin glue to provide medical adhesive manufacturers.
The prepared surgical skin glue solidifies into a film within a few seconds when it encounters water or human tissue fluid and produces greater bonding strength to tissues. It is non-toxic, non-mutagenic and deformable, sterile, and non-sensitizing.
This medical glue can be used for surgical hemostasis and suturing and is often used for bonding skin incisions, abdominal hernia surgery bonding hernia mesh, gastroscopic varicose veins, etc.
